Cinema Australia readers have been given an exclusive first-look at the brand new trailer for Animal.
The short film is written and directed by Henry Young and stars Alastair Osment.
Filmed in north-west New South Wales, Animal explores questions of masculinity and family in a world where survival isn’t something worth shouting about. It’s just something that’s always there to be dealt with.
Animal is about a son’s struggle with his father’s growing decrepitude and hypocrisy that coils itself toward an explosive showdown. It explores the question, ‘What happens when you witness your role model fail?’
Alastair Osment is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and has starred in TV productions including Top Of The Lake: China Girl, Deadline Gallipoli, Rake and Home and Away. Writer and director Henry Young graduated from AFTT and was heavily influenced by mentors David Caesar, Lynn Hegarty and Jonathan Wald during his study.
Animal made it’s North American premiere at the Austin Revolution Film Festival, where it was awarded Best World Film. Alastair Osment was also nominated for Best Actor and Henry Young was nominated for Best Director.
