Next Gen Short Film Festival is back at The Backlot Perth in February 2018 as part of Fringe World.
This award-winning festival celebrates short films made by emerging WA filmmakers.
Next Gen is an event for emerging filmmakers that regularly screens short films on the big screen at The Backlot Perth and provides an opportunity to network, develop relationships and see the standard of work being produced by people of a similar skill set. The success of the very first Next Gen Short Film Festival, which took place during Fringe World earlier this year, proved that there is a need for local festivals to support and showcase short films.
Next Gen Short Film Festival will hold two People’s Choice screenings on Thursday the 8th of February 2018 and Sunday the 11th of February 2018 at The Backlot Perth with an Awards Ceremony to follow the second screening hosted by Matthew Eeles from Cinema Australia. A panel of judges will select the 1.5 hour program and 11 awards will be presented to filmmakers and actors.
“The Backlot Perth is proud to support this event. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to welcome emerging filmmakers into our venue alongside the wider filmmaking community.” Said Ian Hale, Managing Director of The Backlot Perth.
Next Gen Short Film Festival is seeking short film submissions up to 15 minutes long made by emerging WA filmmakers. All genres are considered.
