Perth’s best short film festival is back! Have you entered?

NEXT GEN Short Film Festival will return to The Backlot Perth in January 2019 as part of FRINGE WORLD Festival. This award-winning festival celebrates short films made by West Australian emerging filmmakers and are currently searching for their 2019 crop of short films!

NEXT GEN is an initiative that aims to support West Australian emerging filmmakers by screening short films on the big screen at The Backlot Perth through a range of film festivals and general screenings. These events provide an opportunity to network and are ultimately designed to encourage and motivate the next generation of West Australian filmmakers.

NEXT GEN Short Film Festival will hold two People’s Choice screenings on Friday the 18th of January 2019 and Sunday the 20th of January 2019 at The Backlot Perth with an Awards Ceremony to follow the second screening hosted by Matthew Eeles from Cinema Australia. A panel of judges will select the program and 10 awards will be presented to filmmakers and actors including BEST FILM.

“The Backlot Perth is proud to support this event. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to welcome emerging filmmakers into our venue alongside the wider filmmaking community.” Said Ian Hale, Managing Director of The Backlot Perth.

NEXT GEN Short Film Festival is seeking short film submissions up to 15 minutes long made by West Australian emerging filmmakers in the last 12 months. All genres are considered and there is no entry fee.
