Submissions are now open for Next Gen Webfest

Next Gen Webfest is an exciting new festival, run during Revelation Perth International Film Festival in July at The Backlot Perth, that celebrates short form content for the web by Western Australian emerging filmmakers.

NEXT GEN is an event for emerging filmmakers that regularly screens short films on the big screen at The Backlot Perth and provides an opportunity to network, develop relationships and see the standard of work being produced by people of a similar skill set. The success of the very first Next Gen Short Film Festival, which took place during Fringe World Festival earlier this year, proved that there is a need for local festivals to support and showcase short films.

Web series are the future of television so NEXT GEN and Revelation Perth International Film Festival are excited to team up and support this growing format.

Next Gen Webfest will hold two People’s Choice screenings on Sunday the 9th of July 2017 at The Backlot Perth with an Awards Ceremony to follow the second screening hosted by Matthew Eeles from Cinema Australia. A panel of judges will select the 1.5hour program and a variety of trophies for different categories will be awarded to filmmakers and actors at the Awards Ceremony.

“Backlot Perth is proud to support this event. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to welcome emerging filmmakers into our venue alongside the wider filmmaking community.” Said Ian Hale, Managing Director of The Backlot Perth.

Next Gen Webfest is seeking submissions of web episodes and pilots up to 15 minutes long made by Western Australian filmmakers. All genres are considered. Screener links are to be emailed to next.gen.perth@gmail.com by the 23rd of May 2017.
