Cinema Australia readers have been given an exclusive first-look at the brand new teaser trailer for Friends, Foes & Fireworks.
The ambitious new Australian mumblecore film is written, directed and produced by Ivan Malekin and Sarah Jayne and was shot in a single day.
“This idea was one of those small convos started by Ivan and his idea to make a no-strings feature film, with no egos and a small budget all on one night,” Jayne told Cinema Australia late last year.
“From there we started talking about our experiences as directors and the people we have met and the actors we have directed, plus the things we hear when the cameras are not rolling – the gossip if you like or the chit chat amongst actors and film crew,” Jayne said on the idea for the film.
The Cinema Australia team was lucky enough to catch an early screening of the ambitious new film.
It’s an impressive and bold piece of indie filmmaking considering its limitations. The five female leads give outstanding performances as a group of friends whose relationships are tested when old tensions spark.
“Ivan and I totally admire the work our actors did to prepare for these improv roles and think highly of them as individuals and actors,” Jayne said.
