Celebrated Australian actor Myles Pollard (How to Please a Woman, Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan) has joined the cast of Adam Morris’ sophomore feature film Frank and Frank (or The Valley and The Walrus: Ruminations on the Mystery from Soup to Nuts).
Pollard will star in the new film as Frank 1 opposite Trevor Jamieson (The Furnace, Storm Boy) who will play Frank 2.
“I was approached by Ian Hale of Halo Films whom I recently worked with on Before Dawn. I’ve come to respect him immensely. He’s entrepreneurial, always looking for an innovative alternative and he’s never beholden to the status quo,” says Pollard.
“Ian introduced me to Adam Morris and I was impressed with his debut film Edward and Isabella. The script is beautifully lean writing that is completely performance based. All great filmmaking is built on story and performance and Edward and Isabella was no exception. Frank and Frank is a really intelligent screenplay. Because there are mainly two characters in the film it’s all about relationships. There is a beautiful simplicity to the dialogue that’s deeply moving and at times very funny.”
Frank and Frank focuses on a platonic bromance between two middle aged men, each trying to live happier and more enriched lives, and each trying to make sense of the chaotic and confusing worlds they live in.
Perth-based actor Rebecca Leafe has also been cast in the film and will play Frank 1’s wife.
“I was really drawn to how this character handles a certain difficult situation she is in,” says Leafe. “The writing really allows me to explore her thoughts and go on that journey. I was elated when Adam offered me the role.”
Frank and Frank (or The Valley and The Walrus: Ruminations on the Mystery from Soup to Nuts) will begin filming this August in Albany, Western Australia. You can read more about the film here.
Edward and Isabella will next screen at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival on July 16. The film will then screen at The Backlot on August 4, 6 and 7 followed by Luna Cinemas commencing August 11.
