Cinema Australia readers have been treated to the first look at the new trailer for The Xrossing.
After the murder of a young girl in the Perth Hills, three boys harass a reclusive Aboriginal man known in the neighbourhood as “Black Bobby” (Kelton Pell).
One of the boys, Chris (Luke J. Morgan), must apologise to Bobby and make amends. Encouraged by his media classmate and friend, Abbey (Georgia Eyers), Chris builds an unlikely friendship with Bobby. Old friendships are tested and new friendships take shape against the forces of ignorance and crime in theneighbourhood.
Betrayal, incarceration and more tragedy are now all at the cross roads.
The Xrossing is a coming of age story about how superficial judgments can ignite dangerous violence and lead to tragic consequences. With themes of ignorance and human connections et amongst the power of influence on impressionable youths, the film explores mateship and the vulnerability of peer pressures through the fragility of its central, sympathetic characters.
The Xrossing is an independent Western Australian feature film starring Pell, Morgan and Eyers alongside other local talent including Jacob O’Neill, Jamie Smith, Caleb Galati and Susan Stevenson.
The Xrossing is directed by Steven J. Mihaljevich from a script written by Mihaljevich and Carl Maiorana.
The Xrossing will have its Australian premiere on December 10 at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival. A theatrical season will run at The Backlot Perth from January 7, 2021. Tickets are available now from Eventbrite.
