A behind-the-scenes web series for the Australian psychological thriller Reaching Distance launches online today ahead of the film’s world premiere at CinefestOZ.
The series documents the Sydney-based production of the film which utilised several old-Hollywood practical effects including a massive 25-metre rear-projection setup that created the illusion of a moving bus. The web series will also follow the numerous transformations the bus went through as it was converted into a cinema, aquarium, nightclub and NYE Party among others.
Reaching Distance stars Wade Briggs as Logan, a man with a photographic memory who follows his sister’s killer onto a nightrider bus. His plans for revenge are interrupted as the line between his memories and reality fractures on the journey, the past literally breaking into the present and inhabiting the bus. Desperately searching for answers, Logan is faced with a secret that will turn his world upside down.
Directed by David Fairhurst, the film co-stars Morgan Griffin (San Andreas), Matt Day (Muriel’s Wedding), Tara Morice (Strictly Ballroom) and Sophia Forrest (Aquaman).
Following a world premiere this Friday, 24th August at CinefestOZ, the film will have a limited theatrical release in October. Details of cinemas and showtimes will be available at www.facebook.com/reachingdistance soon.
