One of Australia’s leading independent distributors, Becker Film Group, is pleased to announce that principal photography of Stephan Elliott’s latest film Flammable Children will commence on Monday 17th October. The film is produced by Al Clark of Wildheart Films and Jamie Hilton of See Pictures and will be shooting on the Gold Coast, in Queensland AUSTRALIA.
Flammable Children reunites writer/director Stephan Elliott, producer Al Clark, Aussie actor Guy Pearce and many of the crew from The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, in a new colourful satire. Set in a typical Australian beachside neighbourhood, in the height of a 1970s summer, this poignant comedy is a love letter to a world of careless parenting, constant sunburn and unsupervised activities.
Rounding off the adult cast and joining the already announced notable stars Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue and Radha Mitchell will be three more Aussie wonders;
Australia’s sweetheart and Gold Logie-winning actress, Asher Keddie, renowned for her role in long-standing drama, Offspring.
Having forged a successful career in the US and best known for starring in Golden Globe-nominated TV show, Nip/Tuck, Julian McMahon will return to his homeland to join the ensemble cast, which also includes actor-turned-director, Jeremy Sims, (Last Cab to Darwin) who will be returning to our screens in Flammable Children.
The lead teenagers are played by impressive newcomers Atticus Robb and Darcy Wilson (The Dressmaker).
The acclaimed A-list talent doesn’t stop in front of the camera. The crew are notable in their own right. Production designer Colin Gibson, who recently won an Oscar, BAFTA & AACTA for his work on Mad Max: Fury Road; Oscar, BAFTA and Tony award-winning costume designer, Lizzy Gardiner (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert); accomplished cinematographer, Brad Shield (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, The Avengers and The Wolverine) and Oscar-nominated make-up artist, Rick Findlater who worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hobbit trilogy, Unbroken and The Chronicles of Narnia, are all part of this star-studded production.
“When I was finally ready to write it, this script jumped out of my head fully formed – so I appreciate having the opportunity of bringing it to life with such a terrific bunch of collaborators, some of whom I’ve known forever, others that I’m working with for the first time. And, of course, a dream cast of Australian actors who, like me, remember the world I’m describing,” said Stephan Elliott, writer/director of Flammable Children.
International sales will be handled by WestEnd Films.
Flammable has been jointly financed by Screen Australia, Piccadilly Pictures, Screen Queensland and Screen NSW. Cutting Edge will also invest and provide post-production facilities in both Queensland and New South Wales.
