Entries are now open for the CinéfestOZ Film Prize, to be awarded during the August festival, in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.

This $100,000 Film Prize is awarded to an Australian feature film for excellence in film making.

In 2014 the inaugural CinéfestOZ Film Prize was won by the family friendly, Robert Connolly-directed film, Paper Planes, which performed strongly at the Australian box office after its 15 January 2015 cinema release, raking in more than $9 million.

The 2015 CinéfestOZ Film Prize was awarded to the remarkable documentary Putuparri and the Rainmakers, which had its cinematic release in November 2015.

The Cinéfest Film Prize is supported by the Western Australian State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, which is funded by Royalties for Regions. Rio Tinto is a proud Premium Partner of CinéfestOZ.

Shortlisted films vying for the prize will premiere at CinéfestOZ Film Festival which will be held from 24 to 28 August.

Film submissions close Friday, 3 June 2016.

Online submission forms and entry rules and regulations can be found at

The festival acknowledges its strong partnership with ScreenWest, Western Australia’s screen funding and development agency.
