Filmmakers! CinefestOZ Film Festival entries only open for another two weeks

CinefestOZ is still accepting entries for Australia’s Greatest Film Prize for the 2016 Festival for a limited time only. Finalist films will screen at the festival from 24 August to 28 August 2016, located in the picturesque South West region of Western Australia.

The Finalist films are screened to a panel of esteemed judges and sold-out crowds throughout the festival. The winning film is awarded at the CinefestOZ Gala Awards Night, an evening that truly celebrates the Australian film industry. The producer of the winning film will be presented with $100,000, making it Australia’s Greatest Film Prize.

In addition, Australian filmmakers have the opportunity to submit their film to the General Features category, an out-of-competition category open to Australian, Australian co-productions or French films.

CinefestOZ also presents a wide variety of short films at Side Bar events across the South West region throughout the festival. These short films are shortlisted from films submitted by filmmakers Australia wide and screened at lively locales to sold-out audiences. Side Bars are crowd-favourite screening events, showcasing WA and Australia’s filmmaking talent alongside interactive discussion with the filmmakers themselves.

“The CinefestOZ Film Prize is Australia’s Greatest Film Prize. At no other festival do you get such a strong focus on Australian film and the Australian film industry. This prize is a phenomenal opportunity for Australian filmmakers,” said CinefestOZ CEO Malinda Nixon.

“Every year we receive an amazing array of Australian film. The Film Prize has the ability to take films that step further, we have seen a number of films go on to see success because of the exposure they received from the festival.”

Submissions for the Film Prize, along with General Features and Short Films close on June 4, 2016. Head to cinefestoz.com for online submissions and more information.

The CinefestOZ Film Prize is supported by the West Australian State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, which is funded by Royalties for Regions. Rio Tinto is a proud Premium Partner of CinefestOZ.
