As a non-profit website dedicated to the support and promotion of Australian made films, Cinema Australia rarely gets the opportunity to throw cash at crowdfunding projects. Trust us, if we had the money we’d be executive producers on almost every new Australian film calling for supporters through the myriad of crowdfunding platforms available on the interwebs.
Tonight we’re launching a brand new feature called The Crowdfunders which will shamelessly plug projects calling for your dollar. It’s just another way for us to do what we love doing most – supporting Aussie cinema!
It should be noted though – and take this as a warning – that not all crowdfunding projects are successful and just because a project has reached it’s target, it doesn’t guarantee the film will be made, or that you’ll receive any reward or compensation for your donation. So in saying that, Cinema Australia takes no responsibility for any wrongdoing on the fundraisers behalf.
Now that the serious stuff is out of the way… here’s our first plug.
Three Wires – Short Film
What the cash will be used for: Location expenses, production design, costuming, catering and other production expenses. Anything that we raise over our target will go towards film festival submissions locally and internationally.
Synopsis: In life people are taught that with every action and decision that they take they must suffer the consequences for those actions, Jonah a young Perth entrepreneur does not believe in such ideas. However on the eve of the most important job interview of his life, Jonah wakes up to find himself in a room with a women smoking and a ticking bomb between them. Soon Jonah begins to recognize that every action has a consequence even in the form of three wires.
What they told Cinema Australia: “Three Wires is a film that explores the idea that for every action there is a consequence, whether someone chooses to acknowledge it or not. The inspiration for the film came about last year after pondering what would happen if a man and a woman were sitting in a room together with a bomb between them. With an all female crew and mainly female cast, we hope that Three Wires will not only reach a large audience but open audience eyes to a more alternative look at the typical suspense/thriller genre that is often very male dominated. We hope to explore how we as human beings leave an impact in each others lives more than we realise.” – Olina Papalia, Writer
