CinefestOZ Albany will return to the tourism hotspot from 28 April to 1 May, and will treat audience to the very best Australian films.

Building on the success of the debut festival in 2021, CinefestOZ Albany 2022 is expanding to provide four huge days of film screenings, an Opening Event, free community screenings, a Short Film set, IndigifestOZ films and the Saturday night Gala Event.

Situated in the heart of Albany, the City of Albany Town Hall will serve as the festival hub, while dozens of local businesses, accomodation providers and food and beverage suppliers benefit from the festival buzz. CinefestOZ Albany is very pleased to continue it’s strong partnership with the City of Albany, in delivery of the 2022 festival.

CinefestOZ Albany 2022 program will feature the following unique and immersive film experiences including Opening and Closing Night events, Free community screenings, CinefestOZ Stellar Shorts, IndigifestOZ films, and the Cinesnaps schools program, which offers extraordinary opportunities through a program of carefully selected films, visiting filmmakers, online film content and an exciting Short Film Competition.

“Koort” (the Noongar word for Heart) will form the beating centre of CinefestOZ Albany 2022. This brand new event shines a spotlight on Albany film with screenings, music + more!

Menang Noongar Elder, Vernice Gillies was happy to help in the naming of this day.

“For us Menang Noongars, koort means heart, and I’m pleased that CinefestOZ Albany is calling its celebration of Albany films and film-makers “Koort” .  It is about being at the heart of Menang country,” she said.

The special event will treat audiences to a screening of multiple-award-winning film Edward and Isabella by Albany filmmaker Adam Morris, alongside a performance by Albany Shantymen, on Saturday 30 April.
