A horrifying trailer has been revealed for Surrogate along with a 2022 release date.
Directed by David Willing, Surrogate is a frightening paranormal horror that follows Natalie Paxton (Kestie Morassi), a single mother and nurse, who falls mysteriously ill and struggles to stop her family from being destroyed.
Fans of the genre will remember Morassi who played Kristy Earl in the original Wolf Creek.
“I was looking to do another horror film but I hadn’t found the right project until I read Surrogate and I was really impressed with how well it was written” says Morassi.
Morassi stars alongside Jane Badler and Louise Siversen in Surrogate which was co-written by Beth King and David Willing who also directs the film.
“My favourite horror films are the classics such as The Ring, The Others and The Exorcist, all which influenced Surrogate,” says Willing.
The production also unearths three child stars in the making – Taysha Furragia and Ellie Tevelis who reportedly impressed the more experienced cast and crew.
Surrogate was filmed on a two million dollar budget, but the team says the film presents and feels like a studio-backed horror.
“Fans of horror and cinema alike can expect an exciting and terrifying ghost story with an intriguing mystery and plenty of scares,” says Willing.
An official 2022 release date is yet to be announced, but keep an eye on cinemaaustralia.com.au for more details.
