Catherine Hill’s Some Happy Day will have its Australian premiere at The Backlot Perth this November which will also include a Q&A with cast and crew.
The new independent feature film follows Tina, a homeless woman in desperate search of a better life, who meets Frances, a social worker with troubles of her own.
Over a single day their lives interweave, revealing unsettling connections that lead to change and redemption.Profoundly moving.
Some Happy Day was made with – and in – the community in which the story is set, with many of the background actors having lived experience of surviving without a home. The film was inspired by the director/writer Catherine Hill’s twenty years of working as a social worker with rough sleepers.
Some Happy Day has been accepted into international film festivals including the Female Eye Film Festival, 23rd Antipodean Film Festival in St Tropez, Toronto Independent Film Festival and the Social Change Film Festival in Chicago.
Some Happy Days is written, directed and produced by Hill and stars Peta Brady, Mary Helen Sassman, James O’Connell and Cameron Zayec.
