Join Event Cinemas George Street for the fourth instalment of The Artist’s Room with multi-award-winning feature film and documentary director, Gillian Armstrong hosted by Margaret Pomeranz.
The rare and insightful Q&A experience with Gillian live and in-person will follow a screening of her 1982 classic Starstruck starring Jo Kennedy and Ross O’Donovan.
The Artist’s Room gives fans an up-close and personal insight and experience into Australian film personalities with all funds going to a Create NSW (Screen NSW) and an Event Cinemas fund for a screenwriter’s development program named The Writer’s Room.

DocSocial launching with I AM A Girl.
Documentary Australia Foundation (DAF) marks its tenth anniversary in 2018 and to celebrate they have partnered with EVENT Cinemas to launch DocSocial, a new impact documentary screening series opening 8 March.
The DocSocial series is a curated program of quality Australian social impact documentaries supported by DAF, screening one each month over ten months from March to December. There will be two sessions a day, 1.00pm and 6.30pm across various capital city locations.
The series will open with I Am A Girl on International Women’s Day – 8 March. The documentary reveals the lives of six very different girls on the brink of womanhood, dealing with the realities of what it means to grow up female in the 21st century.
After the evening screening at Event Cinemas George ST there will be Q&A with Rebecca Barry, Director and Producer of I Am A Girl, joined by the film’s not-for-profit partner PLAN International Australia and executive producer, DAF CEO Mitzi Goldman.
