The Noosa International Film Festival has announced its short film Official Selections for the inaugural Festival in November 2016.
Curators have finished critiquing 217 short film entries from 31 countries and have agreed on 141 of the top-rated shorts.
Official Selection films will be screened publicly at four venues across the Noosa Shire over the Festival weekend.
Festival Curator, Arnold Kopff says entries have come from serious amateur filmmakers, students, aspiring professionals, indie filmmakers and experienced industry participants.
“Directors, cinematographers, screenwriters and actors have all contributed their works,” Arnold says.
Films of all genres have been selected including adventure, documentary, drama, comedy, fantasy, crime, horror, breathtaking drone footage, experimental films, mystery and romance, among others.
Arnold says the world’s short filmmakers have contributed their best work to ensure that the Noosa International Film Festival’s short film program will entertain, delight and amuse audiences over the 5th and 6th November.
“No matter what the budget, the quality and craftsmanship of the submitted films is superb.”
Already, filmmakers from Australia and overseas are making travel arrangements so that they can be at the Festival and see their films being screened to enthusiastic live audiences.
The Festival’s panel of judges will now begin watching the Official Selections to decide which films will be awarded the seven category prizes.
The NIFF short film screenings will take place at The J Theatre Noosa, Eumundi School of Arts Hall and Pomona Majestic Theatre.
A special screening of the Ecoflicks short film winning entries will also take place at the Cooroy State School auditorium.
The Festival Program is due to be released next month. For more information, visit www.niff.com.au.
