Freelance follows Katie, portrayed by rising star Nicole Pastor, a struggling freelance editor navigating a fluctuating job market. When an anonymous employer offers her a lucrative gig editing a mysterious video, Katie is drawn into a harrowing world where fiction and reality blur. The seemingly innocuous project soon unravels into a sinister journey as the footage reveals increasingly disturbing content. With each new job, Katie’s life spirals deeper into chaos, forcing her to confront the moral boundaries of her survival.
“We’re excited to release the official trailer for Freelance, which offers just a taste of the psychological depth and thrills that John Balazs has crafted,” said Jessica Butland, Managing Director at Radioactive Pictures. “This film captures the zeitgeist of the gig economy while delivering a relentless and terrifying story.”
Director John Balazs describes his passion for the project: “After reading Mike Gerbino’s page-turning script twice in one sitting, I knew that Freelance would be my next film. The script possessed the qualities of a pure ’90s-style thriller, a genre and nuance that is less frequently seen in recent years. As a freelance editor myself, I related to Katie and her struggles and was confident in bringing her plight to the screen.”
