Following a successful film festival run, Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale finally has a trailer ahead ion its August release.
The trailer and poster has been released by US distributor IFC Film. There’s no word yet if the Australian poster and trailer from Transmission Films will be the same.
Set in 1825, Clare, a young Irish convict woman, chases a British officer through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness, bent on revenge for a terrible act of violence he committed against her family. On the way she enlists the services of an Aboriginal tracker named Billy, who is also marked by trauma from his own violence-filled past.
The Nightingale stars Sam Claflin, Aisling Franciosi, Baykali Ganambarr, Damon Herriman, Harry Greenwood and Michael Sheasky.
The Nightingale is screening at this year’s Sydney Film Festival June 5 – 16, 2019 before landing in Australian cinemas from August 29.
