Here’s your first look at the new Storm Boy

Remakes of classic Australian films are few and far between.

Australian film lovers will be excused for having reservations about the new Storm Boy, Shawn Seet’s retelling of Colin Thiele’s classic Australian book. The original film starring Greg Rowe and David Gulpilil is much-loved.

In this modern reimagining ‘Storm Boy’ has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father.

He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival. Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives.

Storm Boy stars Geoffrey Rush, Jai Courtney, Trevor Jamieson, Morgana Davies and introduces Finn Little as the title character.

We’re excited by our first look at the brand new trailer for Storm Boy and we’d love to know what you think. Drop a comment below or head over to our socials to let us know your thoughts.

Storm Boy will be released nationally January 10, 2019.
