Mad Kids has today released the official trailer for brand new Western Australian web series, The Big Spaghetti, ahead of its world premiere at Revelation Perth International Film Festival at Luna Leederville next Wednesday 11 July 2018.
The Big Spaghetti is a beautiful, surreal, gender-bending and genre-bending, 5-part web series written by Adriane Daff, Zoe Pepper and Tim Watts, directed by Pepper, produced by Susannah Day and executive produced by Lauren Elliott from Mad Kids.
The 5-part series tells the story of Gabby (Tim Watts) who seeks solace in Melissa’s (Adriane Daff) home to mend her broken heart and reinvent her life. But when Gabby’s fierce alter ego becomes the object of Melissa’s affections, their blissful playground breaks apart at the seams.
Adriane, Tim and Zoe are also the writers and creators of The Irresistible, the acclaimed play that is currently nominated for a 2018 Helpmann Award for Best Play.
Daff is a founding member of theatre company, The Last Great Hunt and a long-term collaborator of Pepper. The Big Spaghetti marks an interest for Adriane in writing for screen with Zoe, after working together in theatre for many years. Recently Adriane picked up a Best Actress PAWA Award (Performing Arts WA) for her role in The Irresistible.
Pepper is a recent recipient of Screenwest’s Feature Navigator program – a comprehensive, year-long filmmaker and project development initiative for Western Australian directors working toward a debut feature film. Following ten years as one of Western Australia’s top theatre directors, The Big Spaghetti is one of Zoe’s first projects as a director for screen.
Watts is also a founding member of The Last Great Hunt. Tim is renowned for his phenomenally successful theatre shows, The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer, It’s Dark Outside and New Owner that continue to tour around the world. Tim recently starred Mad Kids’ web series, Small Town Hackers.
“Adriane, Tim and I came up with the idea during an improvisation that was part of developing The Irresistible and then the characters grew from there. We had an amazing crew who brought this project to life. The Big Spaghetti is a wild ride, I hope audiences love what we’ve created!” said Pepper.
Mad Kids is a Perth-based digital, film & TV production company who have produced a slate of original comedy projects including Small Town Hackers, DAFUQ?, The Legend of Gavin Tanner, The Shapes, Henry & Aaron’s 7 Steps to Superstardom, award-winning documentary DIGILANTE and viral sensations It’s A Snap! and Set Yourself Free.
The Big Spaghetti will premiere as part of Get Your Shorts On! at Revelation Perth International Film Festival on 11 July 2018 and will be available to stream online later this year. Creators Adriane Daff, Tim Watts and Zoe Pepper are available for photo & interview opportunities.
