The Plot

In a remote and dark place in the outback of Western Australia, Leon leaves his wife and child in a bid to ensure their safety. He is a wanted man but plans to surrender himself into the hands of Her Majesty’s army to be hanged. Unbeknownst to Leon, shortly after his departure his wife is murdered in cold blood.

Moreover, their daughter Lillian is captured by a bunch of evil bounty hunters, led by the cruel and gruesome priest, Maitland.A tale of cat and mouse begins shortly thereafter as Leon is transported by Police Captain, Jack Dalton, on route to be hanged in the local town.

Dalton’s hopes for a trouble-free journey are quickly dashed as he is faced with a series of difficult obstacles – all consequences of transporting such a high value target. Within the ever-changing terrain of Western Australia, the truth about Leon’s crime and his motives for seeking punishment is revealed, leading everyone through a chaotic tumble of revenge and murder.

What director Jordon Prince-Wright s.p.a told Cinema Australia

The Decadent and Depraved is not only WA’s first ever Gritty Western Feature Film but it has also been coined the biggest Independent feature film to come out of Western Australia. We have been very luck in getting this film off the ground and it is all thanks to the amazing West Australian filmmaking team that worked incredible hard on the production and the huge support from both big and small business here in Western Australia.

We were welcomed by each shire we filmed in. We had many farmers/station owners allowing us to film on their property from up north all the way down south the places such as Kukerin. We filmed for a couple consecutive nights with a rain machine running from a water tank on the back of a road train in the minus 5 degrees. We shot in some seriously harsh conditions, both hot and cold, and in places that are hours away from a homestead. When we say we filmed in the middle of nowhere, we mean it.

The Decadent and Depraved will have its premiere at Warwick Cinemas, Perth on the 10th of December 2017. Details here.
