Tru Dot Films have announced that principal photography on the feature film, Living Space will commence next week.
Created by writer & director Steven Spiel, the “horrifically horrifying psychological horror” is set to commence filming in Geelong, Victoria through to mid-December 2016. Living Space will be filmed entirely on location in the state of Victoria, creating jobs for approximately 80 cast, crew and extras. The film has been privately-funded by multiple Australian investors, each of whom believe the project has international appeal.
Living Space has cast flying in from LA, New South Wales, Queensland and stars some of Australia’s biggest talent including Georgia Chara (Wentworth, Home & Away) Leigh Scully (Home & Away, Catching Milat), Andy McPhee (Saving Mr Banks, Sons of Anarchy, Wolf Creek) Jolene Anderson (All Saints, Rush) and Emma Leonard (800 Words, Home & Away).
The story follows college sweethearts Brad (Scully) and Ashley (Chara), who venture into the heartland of Germany. Their romantic holiday takes a sinister turn when encountering a German SS Officer (McPhee) and his family (Anderson and Leonard), thrusting them into a psychological vortex of horror, revealing there is not always life in a ‘Living Space’.
Living Space is the latest in a string of first class screen productions to be filmed in Victoria. The shoot will feature a variety of locations across Geelong, Victoria, including a local mansion, a disused warehouse and rural settings.
Spiel has written the screenplay and will go on to direct Living Space after having recent success internationally with his short form films which have been screened in cinemas throughout the United States and at multiple festivals, including Cannes Film Festival. Producer is Natalie Forward, also of Tru Dot Films. Natalie has also had recent international success with her web series – Haunted or Hoax – nominated for five awards at the New York WebFest.
With all the makings for a successful international feature, the project has attracted some of the world’s best creative crew, including cinematographer Branco Grabovac (Witches), special effects artist Steven Boyle (The Hobbit, Star Wars, Daybreakers, The Matrix). production designer Das Patterson (The Dressmaker, The Legend of Ben Hall) and costume designer Chloe Greaves (Cop Hard).
“I am really thrilled to have such an amazing world class team around me, and to have received such positive responses to my script,” Spiel said.
“I have also handpicked an extremely talented cast and deliberately placed them into roles far removed from what they’re used to, and what their fans have come to expect from them.”
Executive Producers of Living Space are Tru Dot Films’ Andrea Buck, Steven Spiel, Kate Elizabeth Jean, Natalie Forward and Darren Vukasinovic.
