The Contenders: AACTA nominees announced


Co-writer and actor Dame Hill in Pawno, nominated for 6 AACTA Awards.

A full list of nominations have been announced for the 6th AACTA Awards.

It’s no surprise Mel Gibson’s brutal and brilliant war epic, Hacksaw Ridge, leads the charge with a whopping 13 nominations followed closely by Simon Stone’s The Daughter (10), Rosemary Myers’ Girl Asleep (7), and arguably the best Australian films of the year, Paul Ireland’s Pawno (6).

A total of thirteen feature films are nominated in total across all awards, with five films competing for the highly coveted AACTA Award for Best Film: The Daughter, Girl AsleepGoldstoneHacksaw Ridge and Tanna.

The DaughterPawno and Hacksaw Ridge dominate the performance categories, receiving fourteen out of the sixteen nominations, including nods for Hugo Weaving, Anna Torv, Teresa Palmer, Ewen Leslie, Rachel Griffiths, Miranda Otto, Kerry Armstrong, Sam Neill and Andrew Garfield.

Cinema Australia would like to congratulate all nominees across the feature film categories as well as the documentary and television categories.
