It’s that time of the year again we invite readers to vote for their favourite Australian film of the year.

The year has been riddled with amazing films from local creators so you should have no trouble picking your favourite. Just for voting Cinema Australia are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a brilliant Australian film DVD pack thanks to Icon Film. The pack includes Last Cab To Darwin, Strange Bedfellows, Rabbit Proof Fence, Two Hands, Oranges & Sunshine, The Black Balloon

The Australian box office hit Last Cab To Darwin will be pulling up in physical and digital stores to rent or own from Wednesday, December 9.

Fans of the movie can now relive and re-love the moving story penned by Director, Jeremy Sims and Reg Cribb, brought to life on the screen with heart and humour by Michael Caton, Jacki Weaver, Ningali Lawford-Wolf, Mark Coles Smith and Emma Hamilton; as well as a standout support cast.

In addition to the standard Blu-ray and DVD, a selection of added-value versions will also be available for a limited time only.

Exclusive to JB Hi-Fi is the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD which features an alternate artwork slipcase and set of 5 postcards that chronicle the film’s journey from Broken Hill to Darwin – and the Limited Edition DVD pack which, in addition to the postcards includes one of the coveted LAST CAB TO DARWIN souvenir tea towels.

Exclusive to Sanity is the Limited Edition Double Pack which includes a copy of Jeremy Sims’ first feature film, Last Train To Freo.

Ideal options for lovers of the film, as well as a great gift idea for Christmas, these limited edition offerings are sure to be in higher demand than a taxi at 3am in the morning. It’s never too late to start living, but it might be too late to snap one up if you don’t pre-order them now in stores or online.

December 9 also happens to be the date of the AACTA Awards. Already awarded this year’s AACTA for Best Adapted Screenplay, Last Cab To Darwin will be competing on the night for a further 6 awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. It is the only film nominated in all 6 major film categories and is also in the running for the publicly voted People’s Choice Award. The Awards will be broadcast from 8.30pm on Channel 7.

No matter who the 5th AACTA Awards are handed to at the ceremony, all Australians will be winners when they catch Last Cab To Darwin on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital.

  1. All three films, The Dressmaker, Last Cab to Darwin and Mad Max I saw at the cinemas when they come out! All brilliant films which I absolutely loved!! I am a massive Australian movie lover and have been for a years now but especially over the most recent years as I see this country coming up with amazing film after amazing film each year now. To name just a few, my favorite Australian films would Two Hands, Beneath Hill 60, Strange Bedfellows, Galippolli, Ned Kelly, Rabbit Proof Fence, Chopper, Romper Stomper, Cedar Boys and Red Dog.

  2. I absolutely love our film Industry we have so much to share our history has so many stories yet to tell so we must cherish our talent & support it there us no reason not to especially if you tend to fall asleep reading books like me !
