Steve Bisley Masterclass for Perth actors and directors – Details here!

Australian acting icon Steve Bisley returns to Perth to conduct a weekend workshop for aspiring and established actors and directors.

Steve Bisley has been performing in theatre, film and television for over 35 years. He is a graduate of NIDA, winner of two AFI Awards as well as the Film Actor of the Year award, making him one of Australia’s most recognisable actors.

Alongside WAAPA lecturer and actor/director Glenda Linscott, Steve will guide participants through a hands-on exploration of a pre-learned monologue, seeing a range of performance options for both stage and screen.

Steve and masterclass participants will explore some fundamental questions for working actors:

What is the difference between a monologue performed in the theatre and those which are performed on film or television?
What adjustments do performers have to make when crossing from one medium to another? The works of Shakespeare were written to be performed to a live audience – can they work as effectively on screen?
Equally, do contemporary monologues – written exclusively for film or television work when performed live? When is the audience the observer and when is the audience included?

Participants will breathe life into both classical and contemporary monologues as they move from ‘live’ performance to those ‘captured’ on camera.

The masterclass will be held  in Northbridge on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August.

Places are strictly limited and registration is required. Each place will cost $300.
