New Australian mockumentary, Unremarkable, is now available to watch on Prime Video.

Written and directed by Xavier Coy, Unremarkable follows the life of Tim Smith (played by Coy) who is, by every metric, an unremarkable man – until his life becomes a movie.

When his old mate Danny (David Woodland) gets fired from the local cinema, he decides to chase his dream by filming Tim’s wildly ambitious quest to make a million bucks in a single year, joined by his chaotic sidekick Christo (Michael Arvithis). But the plan takes a brutal turn when Tim’s lingering health issues are diagnosed as a terminal brain tumour.

Refusing to go quietly, Tim tackles his remaining time with unstoppable optimism, turning life into an adventure of pure, ridiculous joy: backyard MMA, pole dancing, science experiments, theatre – anything is possible. As the camera rolls, moments of clarity cut through the chaos, pushing Tim to confront past wounds, make peace with the person who hurt him most, and finally follow his heart.

As friends gather for one last celebration, Tim discovers the deeper truth that he’s lived fully, loved bravely, and he’s going to be okay when it all ends.

Coy is an award winning writer, director and performer whose work spans theatre, television and film. Known for his bold comedic voice and emotionally honest storytelling, Unremarkable marks his debut feature film.

“What begins as a zany mockumentary evolves into a deeply human story about unfinished business, reconciliation and following your heart when time is running out,” says Coy.

“By the final act, I saw an opportunity to deliver a huge gut punch that isn’t traditionally done in a mockumentary. It’s funny, raw and life-affirming.”

Coy says he grew up on the great Aussie comedies from Frontline to The Castle to Kath & Kim.

“It’s been a long-held mission to make one of my own that is authentically Australian, in our voice, and made for us. Aussies love comedies and in all my work I’ve employed comedy with a darkness to it. Unremarkable is no different,” he says.

Coy stars alongside David Woodland, Michael Arvithis, Bernice Lethlean, Matilda Coy, Alexandra Reynolds, Emelia Griggs and Mary Jane Coy in the film.

You can stream Unremarkable now via Prime Video.
