Cinema Australia to launch new Film Festival Submissions Fund to support local filmmakers

After 13 years of championing the Australian screen industry, Cinema Australia is proud to launch the Cinema Australia Film Festival Submissions Fund – a brand new initiative designed to help emerging and established filmmakers get their work seen on the big screen.

This exciting new fund will allow filmmakers to apply for small grants to help cover the cost of submitting their films to local film festivals. Whether it’s a feature, short, or documentary, the fund is open to all Australian-made films, giving filmmakers across the country a much-needed boost at a critical stage of their journey.

Film festival submission fees can quickly add up, and for many independent filmmakers, these costs can be a barrier to getting their work in front of wider audiences. The Cinema Australia Film Festival Submissions Fund aims to remove that barrier and give more Australian films the chance to shine.

Cinema Australia has long been a passionate voice for homegrown storytelling, and the creation of this fund is a natural extension of that support. The goal is simple: help great Australian films find a place on festival lineups and connect with audiences around the country.

Applications will open later this year, with successful applicants receiving micro-grants to put towards their festival entry costs. The fund is supported entirely by Cinema Australia founder and editor, Matthew Eeles.
