Liv Bosshard on the set of The Curator.
The Curator, an indie short exploring the delicate intersection of joy and grief, has officially wrapped filming in Brisbane and surrounding areas.
The production, produced by Blue Lagoon Pictures, marks an exciting collaboration of emerging and established talent.
The film stars Byron Bay’s rising actor James Carson, who co-leads alongside Liv Bosshard (Steps, Swinging Safari) who also wrote and directed the project.
Set against the vibrant, sun-soaked backdrop of the 1990s Gold Coast, Kate and Tim are inseparable twins navigating life with their free-spirited, hippy father. When the family buys a struggling art gallery, tragedy strikes: grief fractures their bond, and a single reckless moment by Tim shatters their world.
Traumatised, Kate retreats entirely from life—until a mysterious painting in the gallery introduces her to a therapist who shows her an extraordinary life that contrasts sharply with her own. Now, Kate must navigate the line between imagination and reality to escape the prison of her mind—before she loses the only family and people she has left.

The Curator
Bosshard recently returned from Vancouver and New York, bringing her global storytelling experience home.
“There really is no place like Australia, and I’m thrilled to bring a unique Aussie story to life with such an incredible cast and crew,” she says.
Bosshard was joined by Beau Selwood as Director of Photography, who has worked in various capacities on films like Baz Luhrman’s Elvis, Mortal Kombat, Godzilla Vs Kong and Aquaman.
“What we achieved with this film was pretty remarkable, we had a tonne of tricky scenes and shots,” said Beau.
Beau’s impressive portfolio sets him up as a creative force to capture the film’s visual poetry and puts The Curator in an exciting position for an impressive film festival run.
The crew also featured underwater DOP Jay Button and Jellan Merlant from Clash Studio, as Creative Director, shaping the film’s distinctive 90’s aesthetic.
The cast also features veteran acting coach Rob Horton (Take My Hand, The Last Video Store), Jarrod Gildea (Chasing Lemons, Lucky Devil), David Tracy (Irreverent, Heart of The Man), and Chelsea Glaw, who previously starred alongside Jacob Elordi in Swinging Safari.
Filming took place at the renowned Lethbridge Gallery in Brisbane, as well as Beechmont, The Spit, and Mount Tamborine providing a visually stunning backdrop to the film’s emotional narrative.
The Curator aims to hit the festival circuit soon.
