The Offing.
Drawing acclaim from industry veterans, Garth Davis (Lion) and Joel Anderson (Lake Mungo), The Offing is a psychological thriller film inspired by true events, following two girls who embark on a scenic coastal escape that spirals into chaos.
Struggling to outrun their pasts, Neviah, a tormented recluse, and Freya, an enigmatic stranger, find their friendship tested at every turn, with all roads leading to a shocking revelation.
Created by first-time filmmakers, Lily Lunder and Koko Crozier (both 18 when the project began), The Offing is a stunning debut showcasing the collective power of young women behind the camera. With its raw and unflinching portrayal of girlhood and female agency, the film explores the realities of women’s lives – from periods and complex female friendships to sexual violence.
Set against the breathtaking landscapes of regional Australia, The Offing builds towards a devastating reckoning that forces both characters and viewers to confront the systems that failed them, while calling out those who abuse power and those who allow it to happen.
The Offing will be available to North American audiences from October 10. An Australian release date is yet to be announced.
