Monster Pictures, in partnership with Head Gear Films and White Hot Productions, have launched Monster Pictures Studios, a full-service genre film studio, designed to deliver bold and distinctive features that speak directly to audiences.
Built by a team with deep experience across development, finance, production and distribution, and backed by a rolling development fund, the studio is positioned to fast-track premium horror and genre films.
Monster Pictures Studios is co-founded by Grant Hardie (Monster Pictures, Monster Fest), Phil Hunt (Head Gear Films), Ian Kirk (White Hot Productions, Roar Digital), Loretta Kindness (Monster Pictures, Monster Fest) and Robert Kindness (Monster Pictures, Monster Fest).
“This is the next chapter for Monster. We’ve spent the last 15 years building a brand that audiences trust and filmmakers respect. Now we’re taking that energy into production, creating the kind of films we’ve always wanted to see more of,” Monster Pictures Studios co-founder, Grant Hardie tells Cinema Australia exclusively.
Kicking things off is Seven Snipers, a high-stakes, character-driven action-thriller, directed by Sandra Sciberras and starring Radha Mitchell, Tim Roth, Ioan Gruffudd and Ryan Kwanten; currently in post-production.
“Working with Monster Pictures Studios on Seven Snipers was a full-throttle creative experience,” Seven Snipers director Sandra Sciberras tells Cinema Australia exclusively.
“They backed the vision from day one, pushed for bold choices, and created the kind of fearless environment every director hopes for.”
The first wave of projects also includes new work from Aussie horror legend Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Rogue, The Belko Experiment), The Loved Ones and Dangerous Animals director Sean Byrne, and actor Matt Day (Muriel’s Wedding, Strife), making his feature directorial debut. The slate also includes several projects with producer Kristian Moliere (The Babadook, Wolf Creek: Legacy), bringing his proven genre experience to the table.
Monster Pictures Studios will back fearless storytelling, empower visionary filmmakers, and become a defining force in Australian genre cinema.
