Maslow Entertainment today revealed the official trailer and upcoming release date for the emotionally charged drama, Kangaroo Island, slated to hit Australian cinemas on August 21, 2025. This beautifully made and richly rewarding film is the directorial debut of Timothy David, written by Sally Gifford, and boasts a stellar cast including Rebecca Breeds (Clarice), Erik Thomson (How To Please A Woman), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby) and Joel Jackson (Runt).

Receiving its World Premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival as the coveted Closing Night film, it received a rapturous response from a number of sold-out screenings. Kangaroo Island follows Lou Wells (Breeds) who has hit rock bottom after a promising start to her Hollywood career. Now broke and aimless, she reluctantly accepts a plane ticket from her estranged father, Rory (Thomson) to return home to South Australia’s ruggedly beautiful Kangaroo Island. As years of unresolved tension start to resurface, the reunion turns even more complicated when Lou and her sister Freya (Clemens) learn about Rory’s secret.

Kangaroo Island combines pathos, humour, and relatable themes, and brings one of the world’s most unique and must-see destinations to the big screen this August.
