World premiere set for Derek Yang’s indie drama Violet

Violet, the new independent drama directed by Derek Yang (I Have A Boyfriend, The Wing Girl), will celebrate its world premiere at Palace Barracks on June 4.

This emotionally charged feature film, which has a current runtime of 52 minutes, will have additional footage recorded to extend the film’s duration as it goes through the screening process.

Starring emerging talents Emily Marszalek, Maddox Valèntin, and Eloise Molloy, Violet explores the intricate dynamics between Arthur, a struggling playwright, and Georgia, his newly cast lead actress, as they confront their tumultuous past during a pivotal stage production.

“We are thrilled to bring Violet to the big screen,” says Yang.

“This film explores themes of redemption, artistic passion, and personal reconciliation in a way that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. It’s a challenging time to start out in the industry, but we are so proud to have the chance to independently produce and distribute our content.”

Violet was produced on a modest budget of just under $1,000. The premiere screening will be followed by a Q&A session with key members of the production team, offering attendees an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind the film.

Tickets for the premiere are available now through violetfilm.eventbrite.com
