AIFF submissions are now open!

Brisbane’s iconic Australia Independent Film Festival (AIFF) is calling on filmmakers worldwide to submit their films for the upcoming AIFF24, scheduled to take place at Metro Arts West Village Brisbane from Friday, 25 October – Sunday, 27 October 2024.

Recognised as “the filmmaker’s festival,” AIFF has solidified its position as Australia’s premier live screening short film and screenplay festival since its inception in 2017.

In a testament to its global acclaim, AIFF secured a spot among the top 30 best-reviewed film festivals on FilmFreeway in 2022, outshining over 10,000 registered festivals. The festival’s reputation is further bolstered by glowing testimonials from esteemed directors worldwide.

Ali Mohammed Saeed, the director of the 2019 Oscar-nominated film Mosul 980 from Iraq, bestowed five stars upon AIFF, expressing well-wishes for the festival’s success. Dekel Berenson, the director of the 2020 Academy-nominated short film Anna from Israel, commended AIFF for its impeccable organisation with another five-star rating.

Nathan Fagan and Luke Daly, directors of the 2021 Oscar longlist qualifying short film Flicker from Ireland, praised the festival’s organizers and programmers, highlighting the positive and supportive community AIFF fosters for filmmakers.

AIFF opens its doors to screenplay submissions up to 40 pages and film submissions up to 40 minutes, spanning fiction and non-fiction shorts across categories like Animation, Documentary, Experimental, and Live Action.

AIFF offers various award categories featuring cash prizes and industry-relevant rewards, generously provided by festival partners such as Panavision, Audio Technica, IPitch, The Black List, Write Brothers, Black Magic Design, and Dragon Image Australia.
