Matthew J Wilkinson shared insights into the film stating, ” Audition Tape 13 is an important film to myself having spent over 15 years on independent no-budget sets where corners are cut and people are sometimes not shown appreciation for their labour. I wanted to raise a debate about what goes on behind closed doors when someone sets out to make a film and what their true intentions might be. It’s a thriller and a drama where I used as many theatrical elements and styles I possibly could. The movie feels like a stage play, fog rolls in like an old hammer movie and the sprinkling of different cinema techniques and Giallo set design are a metaphor for the ‘arts’ in general. Is it still art if people are expendable?;.
