Adam Morris and Ian Hale assemble all-star cast for their vantablack-comedy crime thriller, Frederickstown

Adam Morris and Ian Hale, the team behind Edward and Isabella and Frank and Frank, have announced their third feature film collaboration in as many years, the Aussie crime thriller Frederickstown, a dark comedy crime thriller in the tradition of Fargo, Snatch, Sidney Lumet’s Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead and Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing.

Frederickstown will star Myles Pollard and Trevor Jamieson, both fresh off their award-nominated performances in Frank and Frank, as well as Travis Jeffery straight from the set of The Planet of the Apes, Bailey Spalding (North Shore), and Peter Rowsthorn (Crackers, Kath and Kim) who’ll play Freddy – a stone cold psychopathic murderer just released from prison enlisted by his hapless younger brothers to get them out of a tight financial jam.

“I jumped at the chance to work with Adam again. He’s an incredible auteur with a super clear creative vision and he’s insanely collaborative, I call him the Woody Allen of Australian cinema. I did some of the best of work I’ve ever done in my life working on our last film Frank and Frank so I’m delighted to be back together for Frederickstown,” says Myles Pollard.

“How fortunate am I to get the chance to work on another Adam Morris project,” says Trevor Jamieson. “I loved Adam’s approach to filming Frank and Frank and he has a writing style that influences the observer to look within to speak out and the stories he comes up with are just so magical.”

Here’s the synopisis: Jimmy and Harry Burke have a problem. Their lawn rolling business is going under and the business loan they secretly took out using their mother’s home as equity is being called in. If they don’t come up with 90k by the end of the month they’re all out on the street. They only have one option… call Freddy.

Frederickstown will commence principal photography in late February in Albany WA and will be the third film from Adam Morris and Ian Hale which has been funded by the extraordinarily unique funding model, The Great Southern Feature Film Co-Opa group of businesses and arts patrons who have come together from across WA to fund the feature films made by Adam Morris, Ian Hale and co-producers Suzanne Worner and Talarah Pedrocchi Roelofs.

“This is the most exciting and challenging role of my career. Incredible writing, incredible cast and it’ll be filmed in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia,” says Peter Rowsthorn.

Travis Jeffery echos Rowsthorn’s enthusiasm. “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the amazing cast of Frederickstown. Adam Morris’ writing is heartfelt, funny, fast and honest. Frederickstown is an absolute joy to read and I couldn’t be more excited to work alongside some of Australia’s most talented actors.”

As well as the incredible cast, Frederickstown will see a host of WA and international music luminaries add to the soundtrack including brand new music from The Panic’s frontman Jae Laffar, Australian Hip-Hop icon Drapht, The Clash’s Nick Sheppard, Scandinavian metal band Sabaton and the Great Southern’s own Michael Paver composing the films main theme.

“As a champion of local independent West Australian films and having partnered with Adam and his team on his first two films Edward and Isabella and Frank and Frank, HALO Films is again thrilled to release our third feature Fredericktown, together with the incredible talented local artists supporting it,” says HALO Films managing director and producer, Ian Hale.

Frederickstown is written and directed by Adam Morris, co-produced by Morris, Suzanne Worner, Ian Hale and Talarah Pedrocchi Roelofs who will also edit the film.
