Steve Le Marquand in Christmess.

Bonsai Films has today released the first trailer for the highly-anticipated Christmess.

Written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Heath Davis (Book Week, Broke), the equally dark and hilarious take on the humble Christmas film stars the always-impressive Steve Le Marquand (The Moodys, Rake) as washed-up actor, Chris Flint. Fresh out of rehab, Chris takes a job as a suburban shopping centre Santa Claus, where he is unexpectedly reunited with his estranged daughter, Noelle, played by Nicole Pastor (The Cost, Ruby’s Choice).

Starring alongside Le Marquand and Pastor is one of Australia’s favorite comic actors, Darren Gilshenan, as Chris’ kind and caring sponsor Nick, and Hannah Joy of the ARIA-winning alternative indie rock band Middle Kids, as Joy – a young, sharp-tongued musician who’s also in recovery. In true Christmas spirit, Nick and Joy set about helping Chris stay sober in order to win his daughter’s forgiveness and to right the wrongs of his past.

Christmess will release nationally on November 30.
