Cinema Australia seldom reports on crowdfunding campaigns for local films, but every now and then we like to throw our support behind a group of filmmakers we truly believe in.
Filmmakers like the ones behind the new horror anthology, Incurable Illness of Anxiety and Depression, Jaron Herren, Aaron Joachim, Jack Ruefli and Chloe Clare who have a proven track record of highly creative short films like Three Story Tour (Jaron Herren, writer and director), Chances Are You Just Might Find It (Aaron Joachim, writer and director), Sorrowing Man (Jack Ruefli, director) and Chloe Clare (Medicine for the Apocalypse, cinematographer).
The four creatives are currently crowdfunding Incurable Illness of Anxiety and Depression, a compendium of four short, but horrifying stories that make up one single full length feature film.
The new film is designed to be an exploration of mental health, told through different genres of horror that allow the filmmakers to explore that theme in different ways, and it is also a homage to the Horror genre itself, a celebration to the genre across time: 1930’s Gothic Horror, 1950’s Fantasy Horror, 1970’s Sci-Fi Horror, and contemporary Monster Horror.
Just an idea Productions and Wolftale Pictures have worked together on multiple projects over the past three years, with many mentioned above, featuring at over eighty international film festivals, including Cannes and Hollywood North.
