A new teaser trailer has dropped for Tim Barretto’s Bassendream alongside news that the film will have a limited cinema run across Perth from this month.

It’s the last day of the summer school holidays in 1990’s Australia. Over twenty-four hours, a kaleidoscopic chronicle of an ordinary suburb unfolds.

Captured on 16mm film with a unique tone and freewheeling rhythm, Bassendream revisits the tender interactions, eccentric escapades and extreme independence we remember growing up when the backyards were bigger and home was just a place to sleep. A raw, refreshing and playful look at the growing pains of youth before the internet had all the so-called answers.

Anyone who follows Cinema Australia will remember our gushing review for Tim Barretto’s Bassendream which was published ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival in July.

If you didn’t catch it, you can read it here. We also interviewed Barretto ahead of that screening, which you can read here.

Close to ten years in the making, the film had its world premiere at Revelation Perth International Film Festival last month with two sold out sessions and a special encore event. If you missed that screening, you can catch it at one of the screenings below.
