Mark ‘Chopper’ Read wins Best Supporting Actor at Melbourne Underground FIlm Festival – for his role in Start.Options.Exit.
The late Mark ‘Choper’ Read, who passed October last year has taken out best supporting actor for his role as a volatile army disposal store clerk in the subversive independent Melbourne dark comedy Start.Options.Exit.
According to Read’s long time partner and mother of his second child Margaret Cossar the award is Chopper’s first ever, of any kind. A long overdue accolade for a controversial figure, writer, and entertainer who has appeared in, and contributed to a myriad of content within Australia’s film and television subculture.
Start.Options.Exit. film makers Chris Mitchell and Yoav Lester also took out a clean sweep of awards for their debut featuring film including;
Best Film / Best Director / Best Screenplay – with co-writter and lead actor Ari Neville
Best Supporting Male Lead – Chopper Read
Best Supporting Female Lead – Tottie Goldsmith
