Joe Cashin (Don Hany: Offspring, East West 101) is a Homicide Detective transferred to the small Victorian coastal town of Port Monro where he grew up.

When wealthy benefactor Charles Bourgoyne dies, Joe’s investigation uncovers a cycle of lies, betrayal and systematic corruption in a community where tensions over race, class and politics are at boiling point.

Capturing the chilling action and laconic wit of Peter Temple’s acclaimed novel The Broken Shore, this television adaptation filmed against the rugged south-east Victorian coastline brings alive the novel’s cast of complex characters as it slowly reveals the shocking face behind a community’s respectable mask.

Directed by Rowan Woods (The Boys, Little Fish), The Broken Shore will be broadcast on ABC TV in early 2014 – the third adaptation of a Peter Temple novel for the ABC, following the two Jack Irish telemovies starring Guy Pearce.

Alongside Don Hany, The Broken Shore features Australian acting favourites Claudia Karvan (Love My Way), Anthony Hayes (Animal Kingdom), Erik Thomson (Packed to the Rafters), Dan Wyllie (Love My Way), Tony Briggs (Redfern Now), Catherine McClements (Tangle) and Noni Hazelhurst (City Homicide).
