CINEMA AUSTRALIA SAY We’ve made it quite clear from previous features on this website that we love a debut. This is the first feature film for both co-directors, Angus Sampson and Tony Mahony. Angus is one of the biggest and most recognisable stars in contemporary Australian film and on television so we’re excited to see his raw work behind the camera. Leigh Whannell’s involvement in the film is also exciting, especially the attention he will bring to The Mule considering his work on Saw and most recently Cooties staring Elijah Wood.
SYNOPSIS In 1983, a naive man detained by Australian Federal Police has lethal narcotics hidden in his stomach. Alone and afraid, ‘the mule’ makes a desperate choice to withhold the evidence…literally. Defying his bodily functions, ‘the mule’ inadvertently drags the cops, the criminals and his family deep into the bowels of hell, confirming – “it’s what’s inside that counts.”

looking forward to seeing this one. hearing amazing things. sampson is a genius
