Priscilla: 20th Anniversary Event

NFSA are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Stephan Elliot’s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert with a very special event on 28 February!

5.30 – 6.30pm: Join international multi-award winning costume designer Tim Chappel as he discusses his work on the cult Australian film. View some of the original costumes from the film which are now in the NFSA collection.
6.45 – 8.30pm: Then move to the art-deco courtyard for performances and games by the outrageous Tranny Bingo!
8.30 – 11pm: When the sun sets, Cult of Arc presents a special anniversary screening, under the stars.

Mitzi Del Bra (Hugo Weaving), a Sydney drag artist, accepts an invitation from his ex-wife to bring his stage show to the outback. After recruiting two friends, a brash young drag queen called Felicia (Guy Pearce) and an aging transsexual called Bernadette (Terence Stamp), they set off for Alice Springs in a second-hand bus they dub `Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’.
