The Adelaide Film Festival will host the premier of Charlie’s Country on October 12.
The new Australian film marks the third collaboration between three time AACTA award winner, Rolf de Heer and the always active, David Gulpilil.
Like de Heer and Gulpilil’s previous film Ten Canoes, Charlie’s Country is shot in Arnhem Land and parts of Darwin. It centres around an aboriginal man struggling to understand how he should define himself as an Aboriginal in modern Australia.
The film has been described as a tragic-comic story.
The Australian release, by Hopscotch Films, will follow later, in 2014.
